Harold Lundberg Papers, 1948-1949. These papers are from Harold Lundberg's service on the Wilmette Planning Board on which he was a member for many years and Chairman in 1952-1953. He joined the board in 1949, representing the library. The Wilmette Planning Board was a successor of the Wilmette Plan Commission, created in 1919, which issued the first Plan for Wilmette (1922). The Wilmette Zoning Commission was created by Ordinance #1254, (6/1/1920) and drafted the first zoning ordinance passed in Wilmette (Ordinance #1281, 3/1922). Harold Lundberg (1903-1983) was born in Riverside, IL on August 13, 1903. His family moved to Wilmette between 1905 and 1908. He was an electrical engineer; president of Wadeford Electric Co., Chicago. He was active in village affairs, serving on the Wilmette Planning Board, as a Trustee of the Wilmette Library [1949-1950] and was one of the organizers of the Ouilmette Civic Improvement Association (1957). He belonged to the Westmoreland Country Club, Union League and the Masons. He was an officer in many Masonic organizations, including state offices. His wife, Fern Elizabeth Older, whom he married in October, 1929, was also active in community affairs. He died Feb. 16, 1983. |
