Real photo postcard showing damage to downtown Wilmette from the Palm Sunday tornado of 1920. View is west of the train tracks, with broken crossing gate in foreground, village hall at left. Black and white print which says "Brooks Photo 296" and "In the path of the Tornado Village Square, Wilmette, ILL" on the front. The back has a message written on it (refer to image 2) addressed to Miss Ward in England: "Cyril & I were eye witnesses of this." No postmark or stamp, so may have been enclosed in a letter. |
