1110 Chestnut. South elevation. One of twin houses owned by two sisters and their husbands. On back of photo: "Home of G.J. Bichl, 1100 Chestnut, Wilmette". According to Norman Carlson, North Shore Line historian: Mason was a long-time employee in the engineering department of NSL. He was the distributor of the photos. The photos taken in the 1920s and 1930s were taken by A. F. Scholz who had a studio in Logan Square. He was the photographer for the Insull entities. The photos in the 1940s were mostly taken by Charle E. Keevil who was an employee of the Chicago Rapid Transit Company. Color photos were mostly take Ken Wilkens, Sr. who was the Asst Master Mechanic of the railroad. In today's railroad terms Ken was the Assistant Chief Mechanical. |
