Photo of winners of 1973 Village election, taken at the police station on Green Bay Road (where Walgreens is today [2012]) because the new Village Hall had not been completed. The election pitted the United Party, led by Lemuel Tate, against the Village Party, led by Warren Burmeister, and largely turned on the issue of the building of the new village hall. Burmeister became mayor, succeeding retiring James Schwietert. Of the winning Village Trustees, Fink, and Cornelius were on the Village Party ballot, Frank O'Dowd on the United Party ballot, while Weinberg and Stern ran as independents. Left to right: Frank O'Dowd, Richard Weinberg, Ben Cornelius, Esther Stern, Arthur West, Howard Fink, Warren Burmeister. Black-and-white print. Stamped on back, "Photographs By Wilmette Police." Removed from frame, which was discarded. |
