Officer Rod |
Description |
Officer rod of the Steward. Rod is made of wood and topped with a metal piece that is connected by a nail and includes the officer jewel of the Steward enclosed by an arrow-shaped border. The center of the rod contains a metal handle connected to the rod by two nails. The Steward's jewel depicts a cornucopia, symbolizing plenty of food. (See 2020.023.019a-b, 2020.023.020a-b, and 2020.023.021a-b) The Steward fulfills assistant roles for the Junior Warden. They help set up the lodge room, prepare all new candidates before entering the lodge for their degree rituals, and escort them around the room alongside the two Deacons. They may also assist with meals and refreshments. The Stewards, like the Deacons, carry rods. Some Lodges have two Stewards (Junior and Senior) and others have multiple. |
