Description |
Decorative goldtone metal wall sconce and bracket with glass kerosene lamp insert. .025A) Sconce. The sconce is made of goldtone metal. The sconce is made to attach to a wall with the ability to swivel (see .025B). The metal has been die-cut with decorative swirls, scrolls, and other curvilinear elements. The metal has been painted with gold paint. The piece is shaped with a deep J-bend in the arm. The arm unit also includes a bracket and thumb-screw type knob possibly for adjusting a lantern reflector. .025B) Bracket. The bracket is made of painted metal matching the arm. The bracket is a small rectangle decorated with pressed designs which also match the arm. The bracket has two holes for screws and a curved half-loop to hold the arm unit. .025C) Glass kerosene holder. The kerosene lamp is made of orangish-amber painted glass in a round shape. The lamp is meant to sit inside the metal holder. At the center of the top of the glass is a threaded metal circle which is topped with a removable wick and lampshade holder. Stamped on the edge of this piece: "EAGLE." There is a gnurled pin to raise and lower the wick. Stamped on the pin: "P & A MFG. CO. WATERBURY, CONN / MADE IN U.S.A." Also on the top of the glass is a hole for pouring in the kerosene. A cork is inserted into the hole. .025D) Shade. The shade is made of clear glass and may not be original to the bracket and kerosene holder. Etched into the base: "Corning Glass Works / Pearl Brand / MacBeth / Made in U.S.A." |
