Description |
Print of a painting of the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad train, also known as the North Shore Line. This railroad ran down Greenleaf Avenue and turned at Poplar Avenue. This print shows a two-car green and red train with a black top, a conductor standing at the back of the train, and someone driving the train. Two autos are in the painting, a gray and a blue one. Two signs with "Western Union" and "Print Mint" can be seen in the windows of the Greenleaf Building in the background. Note in lower right corner says that it is print 43/200. Sticker on the back says "Print Mint" which was located at 1147 Greenleaf. The name of 'SOBEL' is written in all caps below the sticker. A note is written on the back of the frame. The painting is framed with a plain, brown wood frame and has a plastic coated twine hanging cord. Lower right corner has artist signature that says 'J.L.L. '92." Store window says 'Print Mint prints by John Lass which is probably the artist since the back has a sticker that says 'Print Mint.' The Sobel family owned the Greenleaf Building for many years, and Betty Sobel operated The Print Mint store. |
