Metal cowbell, c. 1880. The cowbell is made of iron, either hammered or of sheet goods, and is shaped into a flattened oval. At top is a handle, or the place where the bell would be attached to the collar around the cow's neck. The clapper is a metal nut on twisted metal wire. |
