Description |
"Slice of 75-year-old elm tree located at 1600 Forest Avenue, Wilmette. This slab was cut 12 feet above grade. At 3 feet above grade the diameter was 4'6"." (Quotation from donor.) See September 7, 1950 issue of Wilmette Life for picture. Varnished on one side, spots of white (paint?). Irregular bump or bulge about 10" wide. A crack extends from outer edge to near center, approx. 3/4" wide (at widest near edge). Bark intact around perimeter, held on by nails. |
