Description |
Unadorned white lambskin Mason's apron belonging to Ernst William Daiss and originally housed at the Masonic Lodge, No. 931 in Wilmette. The apron is a rectangle of white lambskin. The triangular "bib" at the top has blue printing on the underside: "[Mason's symbols] / PRESENTED BY / Wilmette Lodge, No. 931 / A.F. & A.M. / WILMETTE, ILLINOIS / TO BROTHER [in blue cursive] Ernst William Daiss / AT HIS INITIATION / INITIATED March 3, 1956 PASSED March 9, 1956 RAISED April 21, 1956 / Paul C. Dauer SEC'Y James Taylor Wilson W.M. / THE SCHULTZ MANUFACTURING COMPANY." There are borders of white silk grosgrain ribbon on both the bib and the apron. Attached at top is s white cord with tassels at both ends. The apron is lined with muslin and the bib is lined with glazed fabric. Mr. Daiss was born in Germany but eventually became a US citizen. He lived at 1530 Spencer St. in Wilmette. His birth date is unknown but he passed away in 1988. |
