Description |
Green oiled paper parasol with teal wood exterior ribs. The parasol is made primarily of hunter green oiled paper, edged in orange. The interior ribs are unfinished light wood. The ribs are hinged to darker wood which is turn is laced together with cotton string. The handle is made of bamboo which has been pyrographed with circles and other designs. The handle is wrapped with white plasticized wire. Silver metallic label near ferule: "MADE IN JAPAN." Small silvertone metal ferule. The outer ribs are painted teal with red/orange tips, and when closed, make a nearly solid wooden exterior. A light blue and dark blue square of plastic cover the center top. Why Nancy Stein had this parasol and why she donated it to the WHM is unknown. |
