Description |
Sales booklet for Hollywood Builders' subdivision in Wilmette, called, "Hollywood in Wilmette." The 32-page booklet is printed in reddish-brown and black inks on cream paper. The booklet utilizes several advertising techniques (ex. rhetorical questions, statistical reasons to choose Hollywood Builders, etc.) Eventually lays out the four different home designs, and gives five examples from five different locations in the United States: the California Contemporary Ranch design (from Coral Gables, Florida), the Modern Conventional Multi-Level design (from Long Island, New York), the California Ranch House (from Hollywood, California), and the California Contemporary Bi-Level (from Las Vegas, Nevada). Next, there are several pages devoted to the specific aspects of each house: Living Rooms, Bedrooms, Kitchens, and Bathrooms. There are more details with regards to west Wilmette's geography and the specifics of the interior design process: building materials, heating comfort, plumbing, kitchen cabinets, lumber, refrigerators, floor tiles, concrete, masonry, and formica tops. See Image Management for more details and visuals. The architect, Morton S. Balaban, is credited on the back cover, possibly added in black ink. There is a copy of the brochure with a hard cover in the historical reference files - "Subdivisions - Hollywood Builders." It was made for the2017 "Exploring West Wilmette" exhibit as a hands-on item. |
